With less than a week left in California, the Middle Fork of the Kings was looking like it just wasn’t going to drop to low enough levels to be able to commit before I left. But somehow it managed to drop just barely into it’s window of runnable, although high, right in time. Ben Coleman, Carson Lindsay, and myself decided to head in with some of the juicier flows than most people would start hiking for. Once we were in the gorge it ended up coming up bit by bit making it one of the highest descents of the river. But what came of it was one of the greatest runs I have ever experienced. Everything from the hike, to the whitewater, to the unreal campsites, there wasn’t anything about the run that wasn’t extraordinary. I am so stoked I go to experience it, and can’t wait to return.
